Yes, Ron Paul Can Win!
A Zogby poll gave Ron Paul 33%
by James Buchanan
On the eve of the Iowa primary, millions of Americans are still scratching their heads wondering if Ron Paul can win the Republican primary. They’ve heard Paul propose some great things like abolishing the IRS, but they keep hearing the mainstream media quote poll results, that are discouraging. Meanwhile, a Zogby poll that gave Ron Paul 33 percent and first place in the crowded field of GOP candidates has been air-brushed out of any political news reporting.
There is one very important thing to remember about polls. Pollsters don’t do polls unless someone pays them to do polls. If a group called “Neocons for War” shows up and asks for a poll, they can dictate what questions will be asked in a specific poll, and anyone with any knowledge of polling can tell you a carefully worded poll can heavily slant the results. These polls are often reported simply as a Rasmussen poll or a Gallup poll with no mention of the highly biased sponsor of the poll. As an example of extreme bias, in one poll, if the respondent said he supported Ron Paul, the next question would be on a sexual topic. If the respondent hung up, his pro-Ron Paul vote was discarded.
There has only been one clearly-worded poll by Zogby that we know of. Alex Jones paid for this Zogby poll and that is why we actually know what went into the polling questions. The results of this Zogby poll of over 1,000 Americans was that 33 percent of Americans support Ron Paul, while second place went to Rudy Giuliani, who got 19 percent.
Ron Paul being in first place really should not be that much of a revelation, but we’ve been brainwashed to think differently. Every news report from Fox, practically sneers when Ron Paul’s name is mentioned and of course they have to endlessly repeat the claim that Ron Paul is in single digits, ignoring the Zogby poll where he placed first.
Over the last six months, there have been dozens of “straw polls” held by the Republican party. These informal polls of REAL Republicans, who made the effort to show up and vote, have overwhelmingly favored Ron Paul, giving him the most first place finishes and the best results by a large margin. Curiously, the mainstream media has acted as though these straw polls never took place.
Finally, the fund-raising should be the biggest eye-opener. You can’t beat everyone else in fund-raising unless you have a heck of a lot of supporters. That’s Politics 101. Ron Paul raised $6.5 million in one day beating John Kerry’s record of $5.7 million. Kerry, by the way, set that record AFTER he won the Democrat primary. So Kerry was the official Democrat candidate, with all the Hollywood elite behind him and rich liberals in all the big cities supporting him, and he still didn’t raise as much money in one day as Ron Paul.
Admittedly, the first state in the primary is Iowa, where Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee have literally invested months of time and millions of dollars. It’s doubtful if Huckabee has much money left after making a big push in this one small state. Ron Paul has made a modest effort in Iowa in proportion to the size of the prize. If Romney wins in Iowa, most pundits will simply say “He bought the state.”
Most Ron Paul supporters would be happy with a third place finish in Iowa, just to expose all those phony polls, which claim he has no support. The next state after Iowa is New Hampshire, and Ron Paul stands to do much better there, having scored over 70% in some straw polls in that state. Scoring third place in Iowa and then a majority or near majority in New Hampshire should blast away the credibility of the mainstream pollsters and media, who have been arrogantly dismissing Ron Paul up ’til now.
