Why Does Anyone Still Support Bush?
by James Buchanan

Bush hit a new low of 29 percent for job approval in a recent poll. Given the fiasco in Iraq, the nearly nine trillion dollar national debt and the twenty million illegal aliens in the US, whom Dubya wants to give a guest worker amnesty, why does anyone still support George Bush? Who are these people in that 29 percent of Americans, who keep drinking the neocon Kool Aide no matter what happens?
While the image of Bush as a folksy pro-gun decent guy, who’ll stand against insanity like Gay marriage, helped get him elected in 2000, Bush’s commitment to conservative ideals or even the Bill of Rights has been dreadful. Not even the most fervent opponent of George W. Bush in the year 2000 would have predicted that he would be rationalizing torture, spying on Americans without warrants and sacrificing the lives of our soldiers for his legacy.
The people still supporting Bush are almost certainly conservatives, who just close their eyes to the increasing list of crimes by the Bush regime. Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh carefully craft excuses for every abuse of power even though we fought two world wars without needing to torture people or shred the Bill of Rights.
Admitting that Bush and the neocon-controlled Republican Party has been totally corrupted is too much for the average “Joe Sixpack” conservative. He doesn’t want to vote for a third party even though the Libertarians are currently much more conservative than the Republicans. He doesn’t know how to kick the neocons out of the party (if he even has a clue how evil the neocons are). He merely ignores all the evil and hopes that the GOP will keep his taxes low even though the Iraq War and massive national debt will eventually cause the mother of all tax increases.
Perhaps the average “Joe Sixpack” conservative would finally wake up if he just considered a few basic facts:
1).Bush has been president for six years and has failed miserably to deport any significant percentage of the 20 millions illegals in the US today. While it’s true that the Democrats want to make voters out of those people, why the heck isn’t Bush doing anything to expel 20 million potential Democrat voters???
2).Bush has also failed to overturn the federal racial quota system. Bush himself admitted that racial quotas were “unfair” and overturned the quota system in Texas as governor. Why has Bush allowed the federal racial quota laws to continue for six years (and most likely for all eight years of his administration)? Why is it “no big deal” to Bush that millions of White people are having doors slammed in their faces as they seek college entry and jobs just because they are White??
3).All these wars in the Mid-East stem from our military deployments in Muslim countries and one-sided support of Israel. Pat Buchanan is 100 percent right when he says we should dump Israel and stay neutral in Mid East affairs.
Israel is not worth the almost 3,000 Americans killed on 9/11 and it’s not worth the 3,000 plus soldiers killed in Iraq. We should not be occupying that land for the Israeli Lobby and Halliburton. Conservatives should demand criminal trials for the neocons, the Halliburton whores and both Bush presidents. We need to break away from phony conservatives and elect someone like Pat Buchanan before it is too late.
