Urgent Message to Ron Paul: Defend Your Political Turf

Political phonies are stealing the immigration issue and the election from Ron Paul.

Opinion Poll

by James Buchanan

The above table shows how New Hampshire voters rate Republican candidates on various issues in a recent poll. The most alarming fact is that Ron Paul is given a zero percent rating on immigration. This is a public relations disaster that needs to be addressed. Phony individuals like Huckabee, Romney and McCain pretending to be “tough on immigration” are the biggest problem.

The good news about Iowa and New Hampshire is that the winners of the primaries are candidates who claim that they want to “secure the borders.” The bad news is that they are liars. The one sincere top tier candidate, who would enforce immigration law, is Ron Paul. Unfortunately, the phonies have stolen the immigration issue from him.

The next obvious question is: What is being done about this? Surely Ron Paul isn’t going to sit around and let other candidates falsely claim that they want to “secure the borders” –stealing the most important issue of the election right out from under him. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case. Ron Paul apparently doesn’t want to criticize a fellow Republican even if it means losing the primary.

Tom Tancredo was the best-known candidate for enforcing immigration law. He got 14 percent of the vote in the Iowa straw poll in August. Following the Iowa straw poll, the political chameleons Romney, Huckabee, Giuliani and even McCain jumped on the anti-illegal immigrant bandwagon. Tancredo’s percentage dropped from 14 percent to 1 percent and never climbed back up. They stole Tancredo’s main issue from him and they put him out of business.

After spending his whole career as an Open Borders advocate, Mike Huckabee has done a flip-flop worthy of a fifteen year old Romanian gymnast. Huckabee practically plagiarized Ron Paul’s position on immigration, including his call to end the anchor baby loophole. The one big problem with this of course is the fact that Huckabee is totally insincere about enforcing immigration law. If elected, Huckabee will do an even more dazzling flip-flop on immigration going back to his original Open Borders position and he will give citizenship to 20 million illegal aliens.

John McCain is an even worse flip-flopper than Huckabee. A news clip on CNN showed McCain saying that he would “secure the borders.” How could John McCain have the nerve to utter those words after pushing the illegal alien Amnesty Bill last June? Because he knew he could fool a lot of voters in New Hampshire.

Further confusing the illegal immigration issue is the fact that Jim Gilchrist of the Minutemen and Tom Tancredo endorsed phony candidates. These endorsements have been widely condemned in the anti-illegal immigration movement, but most Americans never heard that part of the story.

The only man with enough money to expose the phonies on the immigration issue is Ron Paul. We have given him 20 million dollars in donations and we expect him to spend that money to put out his political message and to defend his political turf from Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani and McCain, whose recent “conversions” are completely unbelievable.

I strongly recommend that the Ron Paul campaign add the following words to the end of every political ad they run. If you agree with exposing the immigration phonies, please e-mail this article to Ron Paul at:
