Slouching Toward Gomorrah: Mary Cheney’s Spawn

WorldNetDaily reports that “Mary Cheney, the lesbian daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, became a mother today when she gave birth to a baby boy. Samuel David Cheney was born at 9:46 a.m., weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces, at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. Samuel is the sixth grandchild for Vice President Cheney. ‘The vice president is pleased to be a grandfather for the sixth time,’ spokeswoman Megan McGinn said. According to reports, Mary’s homosexual partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, ‘will have no legal relationship with her child. She can’t adopt as a second parent. She won’t have her name on the birth certificate.’ ”
And why can’t Heather Poe have any legal relation to the child? Because Gay Marriage is illegal in the civilized world.
There is no word as to what anonymous sperm donor is the father of this little boy. This is the first time in US history when the grandchild of a Vice President has an unknown father. It has not been stated whether the little boy’s birth certificate will have any name at all listed under “father.” Apparently it is not in the works that little Samuel Cheney will ever even know who his father is. All of his childhood he will be deprived of the love and guidance and companionship and presence of a father. One wonders if Mary Cheney would have become a lesbian if her father spent more time with his family and less time with Halliburton and politics.
So much for the Republicans’ much-vaunted “support for traditional family values” –values which they apparently do not see fit to practice in their own families. There have been other incidents of this kind, many of them, notably the revolting Mark Foley buggery scandal in the House of Representatives, where a GOP Congressman was allowed to pursue teenaged boy interns through the corridors of the Capitol building for at least five years before the scandal broke public. Even then, Foley was never punished, but allowed to flee into rehab.
Back just one generation ago, if a White parent were challenged by a White daughter who wanted to marry a lesbian (or a Black man), most parents would disown these children. By maintaining friendly relations with his daughter, Cheney is in fact condoning her behavior. You are either for traditional family values or you’re undermining them. The Vice President of the United States should have a family that reflects the best of America, not the worst. Cheney’s sad dysfunctional family is a mirror image of his sad dysfunctional soul which puts the profits of Halliburton before the lives of American soldiers.
The neocons’ darling, the Darth Vader of the Bush administration, Dick Cheney, tolerates a filthy perversion in the very heart of his own family, thus giving the lie to everything he and his party have ever said about defending traditional family values. The people who rule us are hypocrites who govern through a sickening combination of deceit, abuse of the law and brute force. There is no health or cleanliness in them.
