Ron Paul Still NEEDS to Run Nation-Wide Ads

Oct. 12th is the last chance in some states to register Republican to vote for Ron Paul

by James Buchanan

Great American Ron Paul

The neocons pulled a dirty trick on the Ron Paul campaign. They have moved up the date by which people need to register as Republicans to vote in the Republican primary. For New York and several other states the deadline is Oct. 12th. Changing your registration is relatively easy and can be done here.

Realistically, only Ron Paul is likely to get a lot of cross-over votes from Libertarians and anti-war Democrats. The neocons are stacking the deck to try to make sure that Paul doesn’t win the primary.

The problem with relying on the mainstream media and the Republican debates to wake up people is that this only goes so far. I strongly suspect that it’s the same crowd watching the presidential debates and Ron Paul has already won over as many as he can from them. He needs to stop preaching to the choir and start preaching to the whole nation.

More importantly, Ron Paul’s current fund-raising drive is falling short of its goal. This is another sign that he’s stuck in a rut with the same group of people. The reason the current group of Ron Paul supporters gave him money was so that he would spend it NOW, run some ads and bring in more people.

In advertising you have to spend money to make money. By spending a million dollars on ads this week, Ron Paul could add a few million more people to his campaign and then he would be able to collect two million dollars next week.

Ron Paul has the BIGGEST potential for expanding his support base of any Republican candidate. If anyone could benefit tremendously from running nation-wide ads, it would be him. All the other candidates, Romney, McCain, Giuliani and Thompson have been shoved down our throats to the point where everyone knows about them, but none of them are catching fire with the public because they are all pro-war neocon hacks.

One serious new threat facing Ron Paul is Mike Huckabee. The mainstream pollsters have recently given Huckabee 7 percent. It’s not clear if this is just more fake, made-up polling data or if the Christian coalition is starting to support him as a viable alternative.

This is one more giant reason why Ron Paul NEEDS to start spending some money on ads now and start getting his message out to 300 million Americans, not just the one or two million who watch the Republican debates.

Ron Paul also needs to pay an independent pollster to do some real polls –at the same time he’s running nation-wide ads. This way Paul could determine if that “one to two percent” claim by the big pollsters is all bunk. Most likely Paul is doing much better than this, but he needs to know how much better. By doing a poll before and after an advertising campaign, he could also see how useful advertising is.

The worst possible thing the Ron Paul campaign can do is to sit on its money and not run any ads over the next three months leading up to the first primary election. Ron Paul needs to start introducing himself now, not at the last minute.

Feel free to call the Ron Paul campaign to encourage them to start running some nation-wide ads now:
