Ron Paul in Top Three in Texas Despite “Delegates Only” Vote

Ron Paul surrounded by supporters at Fort Worth Convention

On-site reporter Jamie Kelso notes that a so-called “terrorism expert” tried to give a speech at the Fort Worth GOP Convention. Most “terrorism experts” are nothing less than propagandists working indirectly (or even directly) for Israel. The so-called expert was babbling for only a short time when he started making the lunatic suggestion that America should make war on Iran. Patriots in the crowd immediately started booing him. The booing was so intense that the “terrorist expert” asked the crowd if he could continue and he was met with an equally loud “boo.” The opportunity to “boo” this soulless shill for Israel is why it is so important for patriotic, ordinary Americans to show up at these events.

The results of the Texas straw poll were interesting and unexpected. Because only delegates were allowed to vote in the Texas straw poll, most people were expecting the election to go entirely to the neocons and that Ron Paul would get shafted. Fortunately, it didn’t turn out quite that bad. Ron Paul placed in the top three –somewhat to the shock of Ron Paul supporters. Fred Thompson got a few more delegate votes than Paul to place second. In a bizarre twist, first place went to Duncan Hunter, suggesting the Texas delegates were making a protest vote against the east coast liberal Republican, Mitt Romney.

Romney scored only 4.7 percent probably taking a serious hit for having had Senator Larry Craig as his campaign co-chairman. Craig pled guilty to “disorderly conduct” in a men’s restroom and his lewd conduct scandal has been all over the news this week. The police report strongly suggests that Craig was making unmistakable signals that he wanted a restroom tryst with the undercover officer despite later attempts to spin the incident as a “misunderstanding.” Craig was peeking through the door crack at the police detective for two minutes. Craig claimed hand signals that he made under the divider were really attempts to pick up a piece of paper off the floor. The detective said no piece of paper was on the floor. (And who -besides a janitor- would pick up a piece of paper from the floor of a public restroom?) An article by an Idaho newspaper reports that there are stories of Craig making homosexual advances dating back to 1967 including an incident in a Union Station restroom. The Senator Craig/restroom scandal has been yet another public relations disaster for the Republican Party. Romney’s close association with Craig might prove fatal to his presidential bid.

The neocon favorite and darling of the media Rudy Giuliani placed 5th in the Texas primary and McCain placed 9th.

The only candidates to attend the Fort Worth GOP Convention were Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter and one or two unknowns. It seems that a large portion of the delegates made a secret decision to vote for Duncan Hunter. Thankfully, a large number of the delegates broke away and voted for Ron Paul, giving him third place. Both Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul have taken a tough stand against illegal immigration, which appeals to most Texans. Ron Paul wants to eliminate the anchor baby loophole. Duncan Hunter is notable for introducing legislation to build a border fence (which the Bush administration has refused to do).

At least one story has surfaced claiming that some delegates, who supported Ron Paul, were denied entry to the Fort Worth convention and were denied their right to vote. Hopefully more information about this will surface soon.

Ron Paul has been doing extremely well in recent straw polls where ordinary Americans were allowed to vote. Since August 14th, Ron Paul has placed first in six straw polls. One web site, tracking the Republican straw polls notes that Ron Paul now has 17 straw polls with a finish in the top three tying Mitt Romney. Romney of course has spent millions of dollars while Ron Paul has benefited from a growing grass roots campaign.

(Note: Ron Paul placed in the top three in Texas and Romney did not. So Paul and Romney are tied at 17 top three finishes.)

One political pundit observed “To know Ron Paul is to love him.” As more and more Americans discover Ron Paul on the Internet, they can’t help but be impressed by a true patriot, who would restore the Bill of Rights, get us out of the Iraq War and stop the mass invasion of the US by illegal aliens.
