Phoenix Mayor Calls in FBI to Protect Illegals

Popular Sheriff Joe Arpaio

One of the few recent success stories in the American illegal immigration crisis has been enforcement of the law by local and state authorities in Arizona, with a consequent drop-off in the numbers of illegals who are hiding in that state and stealing its resources. It was only a matter of time before the rich men in expensive suits who want the illegals here (the liberals and “John McCain” Republicans) struck back to protect the cheap labor that they love so much.

According to Yahoo News: “The mayor [of Phoenix] wants the FBI to investigate whether the local county sheriff has violated any civil rights laws with his recent high-profile crackdowns on illegal immigrants. The saturation patrols have drawn protests from civil rights and immigrant-rights advocates, but they have drawn support from backers of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and from people who believe the government hasn’t done enough against illegal immigration.”

Now wait a second. Why shouldn’t the federal government be PROSECUTING the mayor of Phoenix for violating the law by aiding and abetting criminals, who broke our law by illegally crossing the border?

Yahoo goes on: “In an April 4 letter to U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Mayor Phil Gordon asked the agency and the Justice Department’s civil rights division to examine what he called discriminatory harassment and improper stops, searches, and arrests by sheriff’s deputies in Maricopa County, which encompasses the metropolitan area. ‘Over the past few weeks, Sheriff Arpaio’s actions have infringed on the civil rights of our residents,’ Gordon wrote. ‘They have put our residents’ well-being, and the well-being of law enforcement officers, at risk.’”

How, exactly, the enforcement of the law and the arrest of those who are breaking it (and who aren’t even US citizens) violates anyone’s “rights” is something Hizzoner fails to explain.

Basically, the mayor was unable to rein in the popular Maricopa sheriff through his own political influence and arm-twisting, so he hollered for the Feds in order to make sure that hundreds of thousands of Mexicans can continue breaking that law and stealing from the native-born American citizens of Arizona. (Is it mere coincidence that Republican candidate Mr. Potato Head is from Arizona?)

Always remember the key to understanding the American immigration issue: the government and the wealthy men who run it want the illegals here, while the ordinary people (who must suffer from their presence and who pay most of the tax bill for illegals) do not.
