Nat. Guard on the Border: Another Bush Deception

At first it sounds like a dream come true. Imagine the federal government actually doing something about illegal immigration. A recent news article reports “President Bush, trying to build support for a major overhaul of the nation’s tattered immigration laws, said Monday night he would order as many as 6,000 National Guard troops to secure the U.S. border with Mexico.” If this action had been taken by Ronald Reagan, it would be cause for dancing in the streets and nation-wide celebrations. Unfortunately, George Bush and the whole Bush family is a sorry disappointment when it comes to illegal aliens.
George Bush WILL NOT put significant numbers of National Guard troops on the border to seal off illegal immigration and drug trafficking. Of all the possible troops that could be chosen, the National Guard is possibly the worst-suited for guarding the border. Recruitment has been falling since the Iraq War. Many Guard troops have been horribly wounded. About 75 percent of the Guard’s equipment is in Iraq leaving most remaining Guard troops without night vision, trucks and helicopters, which would help them patrol, spot and haul away illegal aliens.
George Bush is an open borders advocate to the core. The ONLY reason he is proposing this latest move is because his approval rating has dipped to 29 percent. Whatever George Bush does will be sabotaged from the top so that the border remains as porous as ever. This latest stunt is no different from the “Great Wal-Mart Raid” in which the Feds made a big show out of rounding up about 125 illegal aliens working on a construction site for a Wal-Mart. That leaves only about 20 million illegal aliens to go (according to an estimate by Bear-Stearns). Naturally nothing else was done after the Great Wal-Mart Raid because the Bush administration does not want to do anything except token efforts.
