John Edwards

Most Americans were shocked when it was revealed several weeks ago that John Edwards had a $400 haircut. Now, the Washington Post reports that John Edwards, has recently spent $1,250 on a haircut. Edwards is moaning and whining because the media dared to mention same. A Washington Post article reports “Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards defended himself against criticism that his expensive haircuts and lucrative income from a hedge fund undercut his campaign’s effort to highlight the issue of poverty in America. In an interview for the washingtonpost.com news program PostTalk Edwards said his life and career demonstrate the sincerity of his commitment to the plight of low-income Americans and continued willingness to push the issue forward during the 2008 presidential campaign.”

The liberal media seems to like Edwards for some reason. In any case, he’s getting a really easy ride. Be interesting to see how they treat him later on when the campaign heats up, if he starts posing an actual threat to either Hillary or the wildcard Democrat candidate Barack Obama.

The Post continues “Edwards cited his work as a trial lawyer defending people against major corporations, the poverty center he started after the 2004 campaign, an after-school center he and his wife Elizabeth created that caters largely to low-income students, as well as a program designed to make it possible for low-income students to go to college. Edwards was interviewed midway through a three-day poverty tour that will take him from the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans to stricken areas of Mississippi to an inner city neighborhood here threatened by foreclosures to rural communities in Appalachia.”

There is in fact a trailer park located across the highway from Edwards huge mansion on rolling acres in North Carolina; the media recently interviewed the residents, and they all said that their wealthy neighbor has never visited their trailers or given them the time of day.

Let me see now? What could a normal person or family have done with the $1,250 John Edwards spends on just one single haircut?

*A couple of months’ rent or a mortgage payment?

*Maybe three months of car or truck payments?

*Depending on the size of the family, two or three months’ worth of groceries?

*One visit to the emergency room (if you can find one that’s not full of Mexicans)?

*A full set of new clothing for two growing children and both parents from Wal-Mart?

*Three or four months’ worth of gas for two vehicles, Mom’s and Dad’s, to get back and forth to work every day?

*Five or six months’ electricity bill?

The possibilities are endless as to what a family of normal people could have done with the price of just one casual haircut for Senator John Edwards. Think what they could do with his annual tab for fancy restaurants? Probably send their kids through college.

Somehow it seems unlikely Edwards or any of the other rich elitists running for president are likely to have the slightest clue what’s important for ordinary Americans such as keeping jobs here in America and not letting the mega-corporations outsource them. Somehow it seems Edwards is much more likely to have lobster with various corporate elitists rather than rub shoulders with Mr. or Mrs. Joe Sixpack.

The only candidate in the two-party system who cares about the little guy is Republican Ron Paul. Ron Paul stands for the Bill of Rights and fiscal responsibility. And who would you trust with your tax money, Ron Paul or someone who spends $1,250 on a haircut?
