The latest Big Lie from the Bush regime is that the bail out of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae won’t cost the $300 billion originally authorized by the US Senate ten days ago, but will only cost a modest $25 billion. This dubious announcement -along with a sudden drop in oil prices- has caused a 638 point rally on Wall Street. Funny how the price of oil suddenly plunged just in time to save the stock market. It’s almost as if Big Oil jacks up the price as high as possible most of the time and only drops the price a little if the bottom is starting to fall out of the economy. If Teddy Roosevelt were still alive and acting as president (instead of the dim-witted stooge George W. Bush), the Big Oil Companies would be under investigation for behaving like a monopoly.

The Bush regime has a “sure fire” response to any disaster that takes place on their watch. They lie about it. The quagmire in Iraq was “necessary” if you listen to the various neocon spokes-holes. The “surge” has been a “great success” even though we still have an extra 10,000 “surged” troops still in Iraq and even though we’re still suffering dozens of casualties every month as the rebel forces launch increasingly sophisticated attacks. I strongly suspect any drop in casualties is NOT due to the surge, but due to the fact that the Republicans are almost certain to lose in 2008. The Iraqi rebels have effectively won and don’t NEED to fight as much anymore since US troops will likely leave by 2010 (if Obama can be taken at his word).

The neocons also told us the huge failure at Katrina was not the fault of Bush and the federal government even though flood control is the job of the (federal) Army Corps of Engineers. Oh no, Karl Rove, various neocon talk show hacks and Internet trolls fooled millions of Americans into thinking that the Katrina disaster was the fault of the mayor of New Orleans and Governor of Louisiana even though they had no role or responsibility for flood control while President Bush had all the responsibility for building levees. Why let facts get in the way of a good propaganda campaign that shifts the blame on your enemies?

Now we are neck-deep in a subprime crisis that recently drove the stock market below 11,000 points for the first time in two years. So how is the Bush regime responding to this disaster? They’re lying. They’re claiming the Freddie Mac Fannie Mae bail out will cost a mere $25 billion. They most likely pulled strings to get their Big Oil buddies to drop the price of oil temporarily to fool people into rushing back into the stock market. This smoke and mirrors trickery should really not fool anyone. As the weeks go by, a more realistic estimate of the size of the subprime crisis will materialize. So far, it only seems to grow to more gigantic proportions. Two weeks from now, that $25 billion estimate will be seen as a ridiculously low amount.

A recent news article entitled “Investors question financial sector rebound” reports that “Surprisingly large second-quarter losses at Wachovia Corp. and Washington Mutual Inc. have quickly revived concerns that the financial sector still has a long way to go before it recovers from the year-old credit crisis. Investors who were growing optimistic after a string of upbeat bank results in recent days were jolted Tuesday when Wachovia, the nation’s fourth-largest bank, racked up an $8.86 billion loss because of charges and reserves for bad mortgage loans. The Charlotte-based bank also cut its dividend for the second time this year and eliminated 10,750 positions. Washington Mutual, the nation’s largest savings and loan, delivered a further blow, swinging to a $3.33 billion loss as it boosted its loan loss reserve to more than $8 billion, betting it will have more soured mortgages… ‘Wachovia’s news isn’t isolated. I think there is still a structural issue with U.S. banks,’ said Russell Walker, a risk management professor… Global banks and brokerages already have written down some $300 billion of mortgage-backed securities and other risky investments since the crisis began last year and there are fears that more write-downs are ahead as more mortgages fail. Questions remain about which companies will have to raise additional capital going forward, and just how much will be needed.”

Another article reports “The Bush administration’s plan to rescue ailing mortgage-finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is likely to cost about $25 billion during the next two years, according to congressional budget analysts… However, ‘that scenario is far from the only possible result,’ the letter says, and the cost estimate takes into account ‘the probability of various possible outcomes.’ That means rescuing the mortgage firms could cost significantly more than $25 billion if the authority is exercised, the letter says.”

Frankly, the $25 billion dollar estimate by Congressional hacks sounds like so much wishful thinking. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae handle the financing of about 40 to 50 percent of all the home mortgages in the US. Let’s say Joe Sixpack got a loan for $600,000 with little-to-no money down. One year after he started buying his home, he discovers the value of his house has plunged to $400,000. Millions of “Joe Sixpacks” are predictably walking away from massive debt and declaring bankruptcy. Some are simply flaking out on the home loan, because they only bought the house to re-sell later at a profit. A large number of loans went to Blacks and Latinos, who should never have gotten loans. Sometimes loan agents fabricated information about the lenders’ income to make the loan go through. In many cases, the real estate agent flat out lied to the borrower claiming that they would get a one percent interest rate for the first three years. Add to the subprime loans, a large number of “prime loans” that fail after the borrower loses his high-paying yuppie job to outsourcing.

The current rally on Wall Street has “Suckers’ Rally” written all over it. While the price per barrel of oil has temporarily dipped, the price at the gas stations is still well over $4 per gallon. I can easily see the price per barrel shooting back up in the very near future. The rosy prediction that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae can be saved with a mere $25 billion defies all logic. The number of mortgage defaults is likely to grow into the millions, which would mean hundreds of billions of dollars in losses. The fact that the US Senate authorized 300 billion for loans to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae suggests that the disaster will be much, much larger than the highly dubious $25 billion estimate, whose real purpose was to reduce the panic on Wallstreet over the subprime crisis.

We’ll soon see just how serious the subprime crisis is as the fate of Wachovia Bank and Washington Mutual Bank becomes more obvious in the next few weeks.

Isias Vidal Maceda blew up his apartment on Monday while spraying for bugs. He survived, proving that Mexicans are harder to get rid of than cockroaches. Not only do we have to put up with Mexicans crowding up the freeways, ruining public schools and driving up taxes, they might just blow up your apartment building or cause a fire that spreads to your house. Admittedly, this is a somewhat rare occurrence, but amateur wiring jobs that could easily burn down a house or apartment are much more common among Mexicans. The bug bomb explosion problem is more an example of bad judgment, which can manifest itself with other dangerous chemicals.

A recent news article reports “A New Jersey man trying to exterminate insects in his apartment blew it up instead, the New York Daily News reported on Monday. Isias Vidal Maceda was unhurt in the incident, but 80 percent of his apartment was destroyed, Eatontown, New Jersey police told the newspaper. The accident occurred as Maceda was spraying for pests in his kitchen. Somehow the bug spray ignited a blast that blew out the apartment’s front windows and triggered a fire that quickly spread, the newspaper said.”

Some people may be saying to themselves, this has got to be a one time freak event. Well, guess again. Another article reports “In December 2003, an overly determined householder in San Diego, California, took on the bugs and lost her home in the process… Nineteen of these foggers were set off in Aurelia Oliveras’ 470-square-foot home in San Diego. Everything might have turned out well in spite of the excess had the pilot light in a water heater not ignited the fumes concentrated in this small space. The resulting explosion blew apart the structure and hurled Christmas decorations into the street, strewed shards of glass (from broken windows) and nails (from torn walls) like shrapnel, blew the back door off its hinges, ripped gaping holes in the ceiling, spread insulation over the yard like confetti, and crashed the south wall of the house into the side of the home next door — all in all resulting in damages estimated at more than $150,000.”

There may be some literacy problems involved here in which the Mexicans may not be able to read the warning labels or instructions. Of course, you have to ask yourself: What kind of irresponsible people DON’T read the instructions on a can of insect poison? Couldn’t they at least get someone in the store to give them a brief verbal summary? Wouldn’t the person want to know how much poison is dangerous to people (or how explosive it is)?

Sometimes it’s hard to predict all the problems that Third World people can cause in the US. Apparently blowing up a house or apartment with bug spray needs to be added to the list.

Looks like we’ve finally achieved the wonderful integrated world of Bill Cosby. How do we know? Why, the mighty Wall Street Journal says so! And we all know that the Wall Street Journal (recently bought by neocon media mogul Rupert Murdoch) would never lie, now would they?

The Journal informs us breathlessly: “Decades of white flight transformed America’s cities. That era is drawing to a close. In Washington, a historically black church is trying to attract white members to survive. Atlanta’s next mayoral race is expected to feature the first competitive white candidate since the 1980s. San Francisco has lost so many African-Americans that Mayor Gavin Newsom created an ‘African-American Out-Migration Task Force and Advisory Committee’ to help retain black residents… For much of the 20th century, the proportion of whites shrank in most U.S. cities. In recent years the decline has slowed considerably — and in some significant cases has reversed. Between 2000 and 2006, eight of the 50 largest cities, including Boston, Seattle and San Francisco, saw the proportion of whites increase, according to Census figures. The previous decade, only three cities saw increases. The changing racial mix is stirring up quarrels over class and culture. Beloved institutions in traditionally black communities — minority-owned restaurants, book stores — are losing the customers who supported them for decades. As neighborhoods grow more multicultural, conflicts over home prices, taxes and education are opening a new chapter in American race relations.”

Aha! So what we’re talking about here is what is known as “gentrification.” Rich white yuppies are getting tired of the long commutes (not to mention the stratospheric gas prices). They are using their still massive amounts of disposable income to buy up inner-city fixer-uppers, get them into shape and fortify them with heavy steel doors, security alarms, and private security patrols, and slowly push the indigenous non-white tribes out. Sometimes an entire neighborhood is torn down and turned into a gated community –with the legal right to keep unwanted blacks off their sidewalks.

Most of the blacks, who are selling their homes in the big cities are glad to do so. They are often getting what they consider astromical sums for their old homes. $300,000 is a princely sum for someone, who had been working for $8 per hour or living off welfare and foodstamps. The more intelligent blacks will buy a small home or trailer somewhere in the South and live off the interest from whatever’s left over. The average blacks will likely blow all the money on drugs, alcohol, cars and clothes.

The cost of living in cities like San Francisco is becoming astronomical. If an apartment building once occupied by blacks is torn down or converted into condos (assuming they can kill off all the rats and cockroaches), the displaced blacks will likely have to flee to some much less expensive small town –most likely in the South where their grandparents came from.

The Journal article continues “Part of the demographic shift is simple math: So many whites had abandoned cities over the past half-century, there weren’t as many left to lose. Whites make up 66% of the general U.S. population, but only about 40% of large cities. Sooner or later, the pendulum was bound to swing back, and that appears to be starting. The Census data ’suggests that white flight from large cities may have bottomed out in the 1990s,’ says William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank.”

Yes? Well, statistically speaking, what else started in the 1990s? The massive influx of illegal immigrants, mostly of the brown rather than the black variety, with a corresponding drop in the statistical percentage of negroes.

Back to the Journal: “Demographic readjustments can take decades to play out. But if current trends continue, Washington and Atlanta (both with black majorities) will in the next decade see African-Americans fall below 50% for the first time in about a half-century.”

But they will not be replaced by nice white two-income yuppie couples with one pretty little child each and two $100,000 jobs between them. Those are a dying breed. Their high-paying jobs are currently being outsourced to India, and it’s a huge question if any high paying jobs will remain in the US. We may see white college grads wrestling with Juan Mendez in front of the local Burger King for a chance to flip burgers at $6.00 an hour, and losing the fight.

The biggest demographic change in our cities is the flood of Latinos. The cubicle jobs that stay in America will likely be taken by Indian and Paki “engineers” and “professionals.” Professional wages will plunge from the six figures to perhaps $20 per hour. Big corporations are so intent on this change; they don’t seem to care if the Third World cubicle workers are competent or not. This transformation is just as crazy and will eventually be just as disastrous as the subprime crisis.

Do not be fooled by the slow creation of what amounts to fortified areas protecting the last of the white upper class in the big cities. This is the last gasp of a dying world order as the US quickly turns brown. If we wish to survive, we need to reject the two-party system and build a pro-White party to protect our people from its many enemies including both non-Whites and greedy corporate pirates.

A Third World country tends to have Third World politics. The Jewish mayor of Gilbert, Arizona apparently thinks he’s in Israel. That is, if we can believe his ex-wife, which is always a problematic situation in a marriage gone bad. There may be something to this, or the tabloid media has struck again.

According to the (Phoenix) East Valley Tribune “Gilbert Mayor Steve Berman plotted to kill Councilwoman Linda Abbott years ago because he blamed her for his 1993 defeat in a council race, the mayor’s estranged wife told Maricopa County sheriff’s investigators. Berman went so far as scouting out Abbott’s jogging patterns with plans to run her over with his truck, Michelle Berman is quoted as saying in a police report released Friday morning… He backed out at the last minute after waiting for Abbott to pass by, according to Michelle Berman’s statement to police. Her statement to sheriff’s investigators does not give a time frame for the incident. Michelle Berman did say she was not with the mayor at the time, but that he told her about the plot later. The mayor has not been arrested or charged, but the investigation has been turned over to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.”

It will be recalled that Maricopa County is the bailiwick of Joe Arpaio, the self-proclaimed “toughest sheriff in America” who makes jailed inmates live in tents and wear pink underwear. Arpaio would probably get a kick out of throwing a crooked politician into one of his prisons.

The Tribune article notes “The allegation is the latest twist in an investigation into claims from Berman’s wife that she was physically and verbally abused by the mayor. Neither Steve Berman nor Abbott could be immediately reached for comment. In an interview with investigators, Berman denied the accusations, saying Abbott is his best friend on the council. Berman’s lawyer, Melvin McDonald, said in a written statement to deputies that all of the charges leveled by Michelle Berman to investigators are ‘outrageous and driven by her long-term and verifiable addiction to prescription painkillers.’”

Sounds like that marriage was a seriously dysfunctional relationship –even without the murder plot.

The Tribune article continues “The sheriff’s office launched the investigation last week after Michelle Berman contacted a counselor with the Gilbert Police Department saying that Berman had threatened to kill her and harm her father. Gilbert police turned the allegations over to the sheriff’s office to avoid a conflict of interest. Berman told investigators that he’s never threatened to kill Michelle, but he acknowledged that he had told Michelle he would ‘like to kick (her father’s) ass.’ Berman denied ever hitting his wife. But Michelle told MCSO that the mayor punched her in the back the night before he was leaving on a trip for Ireland in May. She said he had also punched a hole in the wall that night. He acknowledged punching the hole in the wall to investigators. ‘I put a hole in the wall, I didn’t touch her, but it’s my wall,’ he said. Berman was a council member from 1987 to 1993, when he was defeated in his re-election bid. Berman is serving his third term as mayor.”

Normally mayors don’t try to kill people who live in their towns. This whole episode raises some interesting questions. I wonder how many political rivals of Jewish politicians have been victims of hit and run accidents… or worse. Perhaps someone should do a statistical study along with the number of Jewish furniture stores that mysteriously burn down. Anyhow, at least there’s a chance this Jewish politician may wind up in the slammer for his little murder plot.

The Yorkshire Post tells the story: “Two men convicted of publishing race-hate” [i.e. racially truthful] “articles on the internet have skipped bail and fled to the United States to claim political asylum…Simon Sheppard and Stephen Whittle were given bail by a judge at Leeds Crown Court on Friday, despite having been found guilty of a series of race-related offences. The pair were due to return to court on Monday while a jury continued deliberating over further charges, but they failed to show up… Last night Sheppard, 51, and Whittle, 41, were being held by immigration officials at Los Angeles Airport outside the jurisdiction of the British court system. It is believed that the pair travelled from the UK to Ireland by ferry before taking a direct flight to Los Angeles. They are likely to have their case considered at an immigration hearing in the US before UK authorities can secure their return.”

There’s just one little problem with White men trying to use political asylum laws: These laws are not meant to protect REAL victims of political persecution, especially pro-White activists, who speak the truth about racial differences or the Holocaust.

US political asylum laws are meant to allow in a flood of Chinese coolies, Haitian boat people and every imaginable Third World race, who are all making false political asylum claims. That’s how political asylum laws work in the US (and various nations of Europe). After making a false asylum claim, the illegal immigrant is released pending a hearing, usually with some kind of temporary visa that allows him every privilege native-born Americans have, including the right to work legally. Many of these invaders are coached by liberal activist groups in what stories to tell to the immigration authorities and the sympathetic media, and how to tell them.

The Yorkshire Post article notes “Sheppard, of Brook Street, Selby, was found guilty after a seven-week trial of 11 counts of publishing racially inflammatory written material. The jury gave unanimous verdicts on nine of the charges on Friday, and returned with two majority verdicts on Monday while Sheppard was absent. Whittle, of Avenham Lane, Preston, was convicted of five counts of publishing racially inflammatory written material. Four of the verdicts were reached unanimously on Friday, and the fifth was returned by a majority of 10 to one on Monday after Whittle had absconded.”

Of course it would make little difference if these men had appeared in court to defend themselves. They could have argued that every single thing they said was the truth, but the truth is irrelevant in the British legal system. If a brown-skinned foreigner takes offense at something that a White man says, the White man goes to jail in politically correct England.

None of the articles published by these men would be considered criminal in America, although the Anti-Defamation League of the B’nai Brith (ADL) and the Simon Wiesenthal Center are attempting to make them so. Both of these Englishmen should be entitled to asylum because they have a “well-founded fear of persecution” in their homelands. They are charged with no crime except writing and publishing dissident ideas, and their actions are not criminal in the United States.

I wish I could say the asylum law will actually help these White men, who truly need its protection, lest they go to jail for thought crimes, but our politicians and the Jewish-dominated “justice” department has no sympathy for White asylum seekers. It seems like it’s another case of “Only non-Whites need apply.”

The only thing worse for the economy of an African nation than printing money like mad, is not printing money like mad.

According to a Los Angeles Times article “It has come to this: Zimbabwe is about to run out of the paper to print money on. Fidelity Printers & Refiners, the state-owned company that tirelessly churns out bank notes for the Robert Mugabe regime, was thrown into a crisis early this month after a German company stopped supplying bank note paper because of concerns over Zimbabwe’s recent violent presidential election, widely seen as fraudulent by international observers… The printing operation drastically slowed. Two-thirds of the 1,000-strong workforce was ordered to go on leave, and two of the three money-printing shifts were canceled. The result on the streets was an immediate cash crunch. ‘If you think this currency shortage is bad, wait two weeks. By then it will be a disaster,’ said a senior Fidelity staffer, who spoke to The Times on condition of anonymity because he would face dismissal and possible violence for talking to a Western journalist. The paper will run out in two weeks, he said.”

The current state of Zimbabwe is similar to that of Weimar Germany –if it never pulled out of the Great Depression. Weimar Germany’s economy collapsed thanks to horrible mismanagement by a corrupt two party system, and the crushing burden of having to pay an incredible sum in reparations for the First World War thanks to the grossly unjust Versailles Treaty. In contrast Zimbabwe started out with a healthy economy, thanks to the preceding white government, and it could have continued to feed itself and surrounding African nations if only the Marxist dictator, Robert Mugabe did not blame all his problems on the white farmers, who became targets of violent assault by Mugabe’s thugs.

The Times article notes “Fidelity Printers is Mugabe’s lifeline. It prints the money to pay the police, soldiers and intelligence organs that keep the regime in power. Lately, the money has been used to set up a network of command bases around the country staffed by liberation war veterans and youth militias, hired muscle to terrify the population into voting for Mugabe in the June 27 presidential runoff election. If the regime can’t pay the security forces on which it relies, it would face economic paralysis — and potential collapse… Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown harks back to the collapse of its major export industry, commercial farming, after Mugabe’s controversial land reform program early in the decade. That left the nation starved of foreign exchange, but government spending went on. How did it do that? It printed money. But printing more and more money without an increase in productivity fueled rampant hyperinflation. As hyperinflation spiraled last year, Fidelity printed million-dollar notes, then 5-million, 10-million, 25-million, 50-million. This year, it has been forced to print 100-million, 250-million and 500-million notes in rapid succession, all now practically worthless. The highest denomination is now 50 billion Zimbabwean dollars (worth a U.S. dollar on the street).”

I’m not quite sure how things could be more collapsed in Zimbabwe, but we may find out. Of course, when the country was called Rhodesia and ruled by white people, none of this happened. You would think that by now, everybody -including blacks- would have learned what happens when you simply fire up the printing presses and start printing money like crazy. But apparently not, and it’s not just African blacks who haven’t learned. Our own Jewish Federal Reserve is now doing the same thing in order to bail out Wall Street and the Jewish banks and mortgage lenders that are collapsing. Imagine what life will be like in the US when we combine economic control by Jewish banks and the Federal Reserve with a black socialist of our own in the Oval Office!!

As the federal government of the United States refuses, for month after month and year after year, to do anything at all about the flooding of America with illegal immigrants who are destroying everything like a swarm of brown locusts, yet another small American locality has risen in revolt and is desperately trying to throw off the Third World yoke in spite of the bureaucrats and politicians in Washington.

The Omaha.com web site reports “A proposed law aimed at banishing illegal immigrants from Fremont, Nebraska., would require every renter -whether they were born in the United States or immigrated here- to obtain an occupancy license through the city. The proposal has sparked an outcry among advocates for Latinos. Nebraska Appleseed attorney Norm Pflanz said he is confident many Fremont citizens will join in opposition once they understand the full impact of the ordinance -on their lives as well as those of immigrants.”

Any act of self-defense seems to “spark an outcry” from the Third World freeloaders or their protectors. How dare we enforce immigration laws or point out how much these invaders cost us in taxes!! Curiously, most Third World nations are quite brutal with any illegal aliens on their turf. Illegals in Third World nations are lucky if all they get is a grilling by police and a swift boot in the rear out of their country. More likely a hefty fine or prison sentence would go along with being caught.

The article continues “Fremont’s is the first city council in the state to propose an ordinance that would ban harboring and renting to illegal immigrants. Lawmakers in other U.S. localities have introduced similar initiatives, often later struck down by the courts, according to national immigration groups. Bob Warner, the longtime councilman who sponsored Fremont’s proposal, said he did so because residents were “sick and tired” of what he said was the federal government’s lax enforcement of immigration laws. He said Fremont residents want their own immigration laws. ‘I’ll fight to the dying end to do what they want,’ Warner said. ‘I don’t know why everybody is making a mountain out of something that is very simple.’”

Well, Bob, it’s very simple. The rich men who make a profit off the illegals’ presence want them here. Ordinary White Americans don’t. Even though 80 percent of Americans want border laws enforced, we have a non-contest between John “Amnesty” McCain and Barack “let ‘em in” Obama.

The article continues “The proposal that went to the council for a public hearing this week calls for all renters to fill out an application verifying their legal right to be in the United States. The applications would be submitted to local police for verification, and an occupancy license would be issued. Every person occupying a rented home or apartment would have to hold an occupancy license at a cost of $5 each. A new license would be needed every time a resident relocated to a different rental unit. Providing false information on the application would subject the license holder to a fine of up to $500. Those who occupied a rental unit without a valid license would be subject to the same fine. Landlords would have to see the license before renting a unit. The ordinance, however, does not stipulate a penalty for landlords who fail to comply.”

OK, there’s the weak point right there. We don’t need to be hassling ordinary people in our efforts to get these disgusting Third Worlders out of our communities. We need to be penalizing the rich men, the employers and the landlords. I’m realistic; I know it is too much to expect any of these rich bastards to be locked up with the E-coli covered Latinos they claim to love so much. But we can at least take some of their money, which they prize above all things including their country, their community and their national honor.

Which country is the rogue nation? Iraq? Iran? Or the United States? Syndicated columnist Charley Reese asks this question in a recently published article.

Reese notes that it is the U.S. that routinely commits “acts of aggression around the globe.” The U.S. government has no qualms about dropping bombs on civilians, whether they be in Serbia, the Middle East, or Africa. It is all in a good cause – our cause.

This slaughtering of foreigners doesn’t seem to bother the American public. Americans take it for granted that Americans are superior and that American purposes, whatever they be, take precedence over the rights of other people to life and to a political existence independent of American hegemony.

The Bush regime has come up with a preemption doctrine that justifies attacking a country in order to prevent the country from possibly becoming a future threat to the U.S. “Threat” is broadly defined. It appears to mean the ability to withstand the imposition of U.S. hegemony. This insane doctrine justifies attacking China and Russia, a direction in which the Republican presidential candidate John McCain seems to lean.

The callousness of Americans toward the lives of other peoples is stunning. How many Christian churches ask God’s forgiveness for having been rushed into an error that has killed, maimed, or displaced a quarter of the Iraqi population?

How many Christian churches ask God to give better guidance to our government so that it does not repeat the error and crime by attacking Iran?

The indifference of Americans to others flows from “American exceptionalism,” the belief that Americans are graced with a special mission to impose their virtue on the rest of the world. Like the French revolutionaries, Americans don’t seem to care how many people they kill in the process of spreading their exceptionalism.

American exceptionalism has swelled Americans’ heads, filling them with hubris and self-righteousness and making Americans believe that they are the salt of the earth.

Three recent books are good antidotes for this unjustified self-esteem. One is Patrick J. Buchanan’s Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War. Another is After the Reich: The Brutal History of the Allied Occupation by Giles MacDonogh, and a third is John Pilger’s Freedom Next Time.

Buchanan’s latest book is by far his best. It is spellbinding from his opening sentence: “All about us we can see clearly now that the West is passing away.” As the pages turn, the comfortable myths, produced by history written by the victors, are swept aside. The veil is lifted to reveal the true faces of British and American exceptionalism: stupidity and deceit.

Buchanan’s strength is that he lets the story be told by Britain’s greatest 20th-century historians and the memoirs of the participants in the events that destroyed the West’s dominance and moral character. Buchanan’s contribution is to assemble the collective judgment of a hundred historians.

As I read the tale, it is a story of hubris destroying judgment and substituting in its place blunder and miscalculation. Both world wars began when England, for no sound or sensible reason, declared war on Germany. Winston Churchill was a prime instigator of both wars. He seems to have been a person who needed a war stage in order to be a “great man.”

The American President Woodrow Wilson shares responsibility with Britain and France for the Versailles Treaty, which dismembered Germany, stripping her of territory and putting millions of Germans under foreign rule, and imposed reparations that Britain’s greatest economist, John Maynard Keynes, correctly predicted to be unrealistic. All of this was done in violation of assurances given to Germany that there would be no reparations or boundary changes. Once Germany surrendered, the assurances were withdrawn, and a starvation blockade forced German submission to the new harsh terms.

Hitler’s program was to put Germany back together. He was succeeding without war until Churchill provoked Chamberlain into an insane act. Danzig was 95 percent German. It had been given to Poland by the Versailles Treaty. Hitler was negotiating its return and offered in exchange a guarantee of Poland’s frontiers. The Polish colonels, assessing the relative strengths of Poland and Germany, understood that a deal was better than a war. But suddenly, the British Prime Minister issued Poland a guarantee of its existing territory, including Danzig, whose inhabitants wished to return to Germany.

Buchanan produces one historian after another to testify that British miscalculations and blunders, culminating in Chamberlain’s worthless and provocative “guarantee” to Poland, brought the West into a war that Hitler did not want, a war that destroyed the British Empire and left Britain a dependency of America, a war that delivered Poland, a chunk of Germany, all of Eastern Europe, and the Baltic states to Joseph Stalin, a war that left the Western allies with a 45-year cold war against the nuclear-armed Soviet Union.

People resist the shattering of their illusions, and many are angry with Buchanan for assembling the facts of the case that distinguished historians have provided.

Churchill admirers are outraged that their hero is revealed as the first war criminal of World War II. It was Churchill who initiated the policy of terror bombing civilians in noncombatant areas. Buchanan quotes B.H. Liddell Hart: “When Mr. Churchill came into power, one of the first decisions of his government was to extend bombing to the noncombatant area.”

In holding Churchill to account, Buchanan makes no apologies for Hitler, but the ease with which Churchill set aside moral considerations is discomforting.

Buchanan documents that Churchill’s plan was to destroy 50 percent of German homes. Churchill also had plans for using chemical and biological warfare against German civilians. In 2001 the Glasgow Sunday Herald reported Churchill’s plan to drop 5 million anthrax cakes onto German pastures in order to poison the cattle and through them the people. Churchill instructed the RAF to consider drenching “the cities of the Ruhr and many other cities in Germany” with poison gas “in such a way that most of the population would be requiring constant medical attention.”

“It is absurd to consider morality on this topic,” the great man declared.

Paul Johnson, a favorite historian of conservatives, notes that Churchill’s policy of terror bombing civilians was “approved in cabinet, endorsed by parliament and, so far as can be judged, enthusiastically backed by the bulk of the British people.” Thus, the terror bombing of civilians, which “marked a critical stage in the moral declension of humanity in our times,” fulfilled “all the conditions of the process of consent in a democracy under law.”

British historian F.J.P. Veale concluded that Churchill’s policy of indiscriminate bombing of civilians caused an unprecedented “reversion to primary and total warfare” associated with “Sennacherib, Genghis Khan, and Tamerlane.”

The Americans were quick to follow Churchill’s lead. Gen. Curtis LeMay boasted of his raid on Tokyo: “We scorched and boiled and baked to death more people in Tokyo that night of March 9-10 than went up in vapor in Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined.”

MacDonogh’s book, After the Reich, dispels the comfortable myth of generous allied treatment of defeated Germany. Having discarded all moral scruples, the allies fell upon the vanquished country with brutal occupation. Hundreds of thousands of women raped; hundreds of thousands of Germans died in deportations; a million German prisoners of war died in captivity.

MacDonogh calculates that 2.5 million Germans died between the liberation of Vienna and the Berlin airlift.

Nigel Jones writes in the conservative London Sunday Telegraph: “MacDonogh has told a very inconvenient truth,” a story long “cloaked in silence since telling it suited no one.”

The hypocrisy of the Nuremberg trials is that the victors were also guilty of crimes for which the vanquished were punished. The purpose of the trials was to demonize the defeated in order to divert attention from the allies’ own war crimes. The trials had little to do with justice.

In Freedom Next Time, Pilger shows the complete self-absorption of American, British, and Israeli governments whose policies are unimpeded by any moral principle.

Pilger documents the demise of the inhabitants of Diego Garcia. The Americans wanted Diego Garcia for an air base, so the British packed up the 2,000 residents, people with British passports under British protection, and deported them to Mauritius, one thousand miles away.

To cover up its crime against humanity, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office created the fiction that the inhabitants, whose families had been living in the archipelago for two or three centuries, were “a floating population.” This fiction, wrote a legal adviser, bolsters “our arguments that the territory has no indigenous or settled population.”

Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Foreign Secretary Michael Stewart conspired to mislead the UN about the deported islanders by, in Stewart’s words, ” presenting any move as a change of employment for contract workers – rather than as a population resettlement.”

Pilger interviewed some of the displaced persons, but emotional blocs will shield patriotic Americans and British from the uncomfortable facts. Rational skeptics can find a second documented account of the Anglo-American rape of Diego Garcia online. An entire people were swept away.

Two thousand people were in the way of an American purpose – an air base – so we had our British dependency deport them.

Several million Palestinians are in Israel’s way. Pilger’s documented account of Israel’s crushing of the Palestinians shows that our “democratic ally” in the Middle East is capable of any evil and has no remorse or mercy. Israel is an apt student of the British and American empires’ attitudes toward lesser beings. They simply don’t count.

Those who are the salt of the earth take precedence over everything.

According to the Toronto station of Canada TV, “A jury has delivered a mixed verdict in the sexual assault trial of a Toronto pastor, convicting him of sexually assaulting one female parishioner while acquitting him of raping another woman. Jurors deliberated for three days before returning the verdict Thursday night against 59-year-old Rev. Frank Lawrence. The spiritual leader… was accused of forcing sex on two women who sought his so-called healing powers when he ran Toronto Mount Zion Revival Church of the Apostles, in the city’s west end. The incidents were alleged to have occurred between 2000 and 2005.”

The race of the women is not given, although my guess would be they were black and that this was an all-black church.

The Canada TV article notes “Lawrence maintained he had consensual sex with the women, who bore his children. The women testified they paid Lawrence more than $100 for nude ‘healing’ baths and naked rubdowns aimed at ridding them of evil spirits. The complainants said they gave in to unwanted sex with the pastor numerous times because they feared his influence over the spirit world… The jury found Lawrence guilty of sexually assaulting the 29-year-old woman, but acquitted him of charges involving the 45-year-old, who said she was raped during a ritual beside a freshly dug grave. The Crown had argued Lawrence abused his position of trust over the women who came to him with emotional or physical problems…. Lawrence was also acquitted of several charges of assault and threatening involving the women.”

I guess this black pastor was absent that day they covered the Ten Commandments in divinity school. And how naive were these women? Why didn’t they find a new church at the first sign of lewdness by the pastor? These women were 29 and 45 years old respectively. You’d think it would be more difficult for a sleazy pastor to fool women that age into having sex with him. These weren’t teenagers. This sounds more like a Haitian voodoo cult more than anything else. Maybe that will be the pastor’s next gig.

Obama attended a black church in Chicago for over 20 years. I wonder if similar bizarre behavior took place there. Give a black a Western religion and he’ll turn it into voodoo. I really wonder what kind of secrets Obama has in his closet that the media simply aren’t letting us know about.

We could be heading for a financial “Perfect Storm.” The Dow Jones kept plunging through new lows during the last few weeks as investor confidence waned. The Dow even dipped below 11,000 on Friday. The subprime crisis keeps claiming bigger and bigger victims. The financial giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae who handle 40 percent of all mortgage loans in the US were teetering on the edge of collapse last week. The second largest bank failure in US history (Indymac) just happened last week. Add to all this, the soaring price of oil, which is cutting more and more into consumer spending, which accounts for two-thirds of the US economy.

One news article notes “Troubled mortgage giant Freddie Mac is aiming to sell off three billion dollars in securities on Monday following last week’s meltdown, in a potentially decisive move to heal shattered investor confidence… The two government-chartered, shareholder-owned giants (Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae) underpin some five trillion dollars in home loans, and the meltdown in shares last week raised fears of a government bailout, or a possible worsening of the credit crunch. In highly volatile trade Friday, shares plunged some 50 percent for both firms before a partial recovery. Freddie Mac ended with a loss of three percent and Fannie Mae was down 22 percent, but both have lost around 75 percent since the start of the year… Freddie Mac has a loan portfolio of 1.5 trillion dollars and Fannie Mae’s is over 700 billion. Together they own or guarantee some 5.2 trillion dollars in loans, or about 40 percent of the total value of home loans in the United States. The two firms, which have no explicit government backing despite their government charter, provide liquidity to the housing market by buying mortgages and repackaging them into securities sold to investors. As such they play a key role in the housing system.”

There’s one little problem with the financial collapse of companies that own or guarantee $5.2 TRILLION in loans; it may not be possible to do anything about it. They’re just too big to help.

Not to be confused with “Freddy Mac,” a bank in California named “Indymac” has failed. An article from Fox News reports “Federal regulators said the failure of IndyMac Bank makes it the second biggest financial institution to close in U.S. history. The thrift’s assets have been seized and transferred to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. As of March 31, IndyMac had assets of $32 billion. The plan is to reopen it Monday as IndyMac Federal Bank. The head of the Office of Thrift Supervision said IndyMac had “a liquidity crisis.” It was squeezed by tighter credit, tumbling home prices, and rising foreclosures. Regulators said IndyMac customers with funds in the bank are limited to taking out money by ATMs over the weekend, debit card transactions, or checks. Other bank services, such as online banking and phone banking, are scheduled to be available Monday.”

Why does the subprime mortgage crisis continue to get worse? Millions of people are beginning to default on home loans typically ranging from $400,000 to $700,000. Let’s say Joe Flake got a loan for $600,000 with no money down. One year after he started buying his home, he discovers the value of his house has plunged to $400,000. Is Joe Flake going to continue to make payments on a house that just lost two hundred thousand in value? No. Millions of “Joe Flakes” are predictably walking away from massive debt and declaring bankruptcy. For every “Joe Flake” the bank loses about $200,000 as it sells the house for market value. One million of these defaults would equal $200 billion in losses to the banks and mortgage lenders.

And the mortgage crisis is not just limited to people who choose to walk away from their loans. There are plenty of marginal people, who should never have gotten loans. Many people were talked into loans with a low “teaser rate” by unethical real estate agents. As the rate rose, these lenders simply could not make the payments. Add to these people, large numbers of Americans, whose good-paying jobs were outsourced to India or Pakistan. Many yuppies thought that they were “indispensable” to their companies, but our modern Robber Baron Capitalists would sell their own mothers to make a few dollars more.

One additional ominous sign of a looming disaster is a financial panic in the Tel Aviv Market on Sunday. One news article reports “Investors, frightened by the rapidly deteriorating financial situation in the United States, dumped stocks Sunday and drove down indices two to four percent… Financial observers fear that the market may drop even further if the situation in the United States continues to worsen. Several banks have been declared insolvent, and there is growing concern of a domino effect on the entire economy, with serious repercussions on world markets.”
