A recent news article reports “A Salinas woman who prosecutors say killed a 46-year-old Castroville woman by injecting her with cooking oil pleaded not guilty Tuesday to involuntary manslaughter and practicing medicine without a license. Martha Mata Vasquez, 39, is charged with injecting Mazola corn oil into Maria Olivia Aguirre-Castillo on Nov. 17, claiming it was a wrinkle-smoothing substance, possibly collagen, said Monterey County Deputy District Attorney Steve Somers. Aguirre-Castillo spent about a week in a coma before her organs failed, Somers said. The oil had blocked blood flow to vital tissue, killing it, he said, citing an autopsy report. She died Nov. 24. Following Vasquez’s arraignment, Monterey County Superior Court Judge Stephen Sillman kept her bail at $10,000 but said he will review the amount Friday. Sillman also ordered Vasquez to refrain from practicing medicine without a license or giving injections. After the proceedings Vasquez avoided press inquiries, appearing distraught. Vasquez could face eight years in prison if convicted of the two felonies and an enhancement accusing her of paralyzing Aguirre-Castillo…”
At least Ms. Vasquez used corn oil instead of salsa.
Apparently Ms. Vasquez had a neat little racket going. Monterey County Assistant District Attorney Berkley Brannon said three other victims have come forward. Apparently, in their cases, the “treatment” worked, or at least it didn’t kill the recipients. Vasquez, who works in a beauty salon, allegedly administered the injections at the homes of women she met at the salon.
Apparently Hispanics are now being infected with this insane idea that has possessed the American Baby Boom generation–that somehow they will live forever, and that their having to get all old and wrinkly like every other human generation is the most cruel and unfair thing in the history of mankind. Every year untold millions are spent on Botox injections, liposuction and cosmetic surgery. Then there are weird dietary “supplements” one orders online because you can’t get them in legitimate health food stores, nutritional fads which generally involve eating things which taste like rubber or cardboard, often with the promise of keeping Baby Boomers from aging.
Vasquez is currently out on bail, but is scheduled to appear in court for a bail review at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Needless to say, with the Mexican border less than 100 miles to the south, authorities are absolutely certain she’ll show up and take her murder rap with rueful good grace. She couldn’t possibly disappear and set up a Botox clinic in Tijuana. Could she?
