Don Imus: Latest Victim of PC Thought Police
by Charles Coughlin
Despite decades of diversity propaganda and political correctness, it seems another White celebrity has outraged the Black community. Is this a real incident in which someone used the N-word or is this yet another case of Al Sharpton trying to make a mountain out of a molehill? The dialogue in question went as follows: Producer Bernard McGuirk said: “that’s some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoos… Some hardcore hoes.” Don Imus responded “That’s some nappy-headed hoes…” Because of this brief exchange with absolutely no racial epithets, the lunatic Al Sharpton and PC thought police are demanding Imus’ head on a silver platter.
Now wait a second. The producer was the one who called the girl basketball players “hoes” because of their tatoos. All Imus did was add “nappy-headed” a term meaning kinky or frizzy hair. Since when is this a racial epithet??? The only offensive term being used was the term “ho.” Does Al Sharpton want us to think that “nappy” is a racial slur??
The members of the Rutgers basketball team are likely to listen to rap music since they’re young Black females. In that case, they have probably heard Black rappers call women “hoes” maybe ten or twenty thousand times over the last ten years. The claim that these women were somehow traumatized by being called “nappy headed hoes” is complete baloney. In fact these women would probably have never heard Imus’ remarks if Al Sharpton didn’t repeat them over and over. Perhaps Mr. Sharpton should be blamed for any alleged damage to their psyche.
Don Imus is a gold mine for MSNBC. Thanks to him, MSNBC has been able to rival CNN for the first time in cable history. The self-important Sharpton thinks that he can snuff out the career of Don Imus and thereby build up his much-tarnished career. All of Sharpton’s ravings and attempts to turn the Black community into an angry mob have only resulted in a two-week suspension for Mr. Imus.
There are two things likely to happen now. Imus may move to a different cable channel that is more inclined to ignore Mr. Sharpton’s non-stop yapping. The loss of Don Imus would severely hurt MSNBC’s ratings, rightfully punishing them for being so politically correct. Or Imus could come back and be a little more subtle in his attacks on certain PC blowhards.
Meanwhile, millions of ordinary Americans are getting a little sick of their favorite entertainers being attacked by the PC police. Mel Gibson is still beloved by millions of Americans, despite him uttering a few critical words about the Jews. Don Imus’ very large audience would rather see Al Sharpton disappear down the memory hole than their favorite talk show host. Hopefully Imus will dump MSNBC and leave them in a ratings freefall. It seems like the American public likes politically incorrect celebrities.
