Third Worlders Bring Lice with them

One of the little-known and least studied effects of diversity and multiculturalism is the way in which the First World is quietly sliding back into the past, a past we once thought we’d pulled our way up out of. Parts of our lives are literally beginning to go back in time.
Increasingly, our work conditions are less stable than those of our parents or grandparents. Working conditions in the American labor market, once the home of the eight-hour day, the 40-hour week, and employer-provided medical insurance, are now reverting back to the cruel and bad old days of 19th century Baron-Robber Capitalism. Instead of hiring a few more employees, most companies like Boeing will just arm twist their employees into working 50 or 60 hour weeks. This may be OK for a bachelor, but what about men with families, who’d like to spend some time with the wife and children? (more…)
