Bogus Iraq Report Released: General Wants Another Year!
by Jeff Davis
The very day that General Petraeus is delivering his report on the Iraq War to America, a recent news story reports that nine soldiers died today in Iraq, but the military claims seven of those soldiers were killed in a “vehicle accident.” Given the incredible level of dishonesty we’ve been subjected to by Bush and the neocons, one wonders if a vehicle being destroyed by a roadside bomb is now classified as a “traffic accident.”
The bottom line is that dozens and sometimes hundreds of Iraqis are killed every day in Iraq by the ongoing civil war. Our soldiers are killed on a regular basis by ordinary Iraqis who don’t want us occupying their land, and there’s no end to the war in sight. In fact, the neocons are trying to expand the war. They have begun a campaign of lies, claiming that Iran is sending arms to the Iraqi rebels. If we stay in Iraq, the neocons will keep lying, claiming that Iran is killing our soldiers and that we should go to war with Iran too.
The report by General Petraeus has been given a ridiculous amount of spin and attention. Petraeus is just one of many generals working for George W. Bush. Bush has a reputation for pushing into retirement any generals who try to tell the truth. (Just ask General Shinseki.) Needless to say, the Petraeus report could hardly be anything but more smoke and mirrors from the Bush regime. (more…)
