Believe it or not, a black family is raising a fuss over a sofa. How could a sofa possibly be racist? Well, it seems someone somewhere along the distribution line decided to use an archaic color description for the sofa. A news article in the Toronto Star reports “When the new chocolate-coloured sofa set was delivered to her Brampton home, Doris Moore was stunned to see packing labels describing the shade as ‘Nigger-brown.’ She and husband Douglas purchased a sofa, loveseat and chair in dark brown leather last week from Vanaik Furniture and Mattress store on Dundas St. E.”

But wait, there is more! A cute little picaninny has been traumatized! The Star reports “Moore, 30, who describes herself as an African-American born and raised in New York, said it was her 7-year-old daughter who pointed out the label just after delivery men from the Mississauga furniture store left. ‘She’s very curious and she started reading the labels,’ Moore explained. ‘She said, ‘Mommy, what is nig … ger brown?’ I went over and just couldn’t believe my eyes.’ She said yesterday each piece had a similar label affixed to the woven protective covering wrapped around the furniture. ‘In this day and age, that’s totally unacceptable,’ Moore said.” (more…)

Closed-circuit television cameras to monitor citizens’ behavior have become common in Europe, especially in England. In his futuristic novel 1984, George Orwell described a totalitarian state where everyone is constantly monitored by two-way cameras and viewing devices called “telescreens.” That vision is closer than ever to becoming a reality. The use of CCTV by the state to spy on its citizens is one of the most insidious and significant developments in our civilization today, and its importance cannot be overemphasized.

Now there has been a further development, in that the “telescreens” which allow Big Brother Tony Blair’s government to spy on the British people are now two-way. Breitbart reports that “Talking closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras which allow operators to shout at people behaving badly are to be installed across England…The scheme lets local council workers in a control centre monitor pictures from the cameras and talk to them if they feel they are doing something wrong.” (more…)

They say every cloud has a silver lining. Schools in Britain are dropping Holocaust studies classes, not because they are full of hateful, dishonest anti-German propaganda, but because the Muslim students don’t like them.

According to the British Daily Mail newspaper, “Schools are dropping controversial subjects from history lessons - such as the Holocaust and the Crusades - because teachers do not want to cause offence…The way the slave trade is taught can lead white children - as well as black pupils - to feel alienated, according to the study by the Historical Association.” You mean someone actually cares about white children’s feelings? I could barely believe this one. Only hours after the British sailors were released, Bush’s poodle, Tony Blair, held a press conference in which he accused the Iranians (again) of supplying the Iraqi rebels with weapons and made a weaselly attempt to hint that the Iranians may have been responsible for a recent attack that killed four British soldiers.

Those four British soldiers died because Blair didn’t have enough backbone to pull all the British soldiers out of Iraq immediately, which is what the British public wants.

Every nation has a right to defend its borders and to lock up anyone who trespasses. The Iranians can lock up any British sailors, who cross into their territory and their government can make the decision if these people are locked up for weeks, months or years. Releasing the British sailors only a couple weeks after violating their maritime border was an extremely gracious act by the Iranians especially considering that Bush and Blair continue to lie about Iran and continue to beat the drums for war. In a surprise move, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced the release of the fifteen British sailors accused of crossing into Iranian territorial waters. The release took place just a few days after a news story which reported “All 15 British navy personnel held by Iran have admitted entering Iranian waters illegally, a Tehran news agency said on Monday.” The Iranian media had aired video of the British sailors The sailors appeared relaxed and showed no bruises or other signs of abuse. Immediately after the video, the British demanded that no other videos of their sailors should be released.

Both George Bush and Tony Blair seemed all set to go to war over this incident. The fact that the British were closer to Iran than Iraq when captured was conspicuously kept out of the Western media reports. The British even produced a fake map which drew the maritime border where it suited them. (more…)

Our immigration service ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which replaced the old INS post 9/11) is making some interesting token immigration raids, although I really would like to know how many of these illegal aliens, they bust, stay arrested, and how many are quietly kicked out the door of the police station once the TV crews shut off their cameras and go away. But what’s really interesting is they’re starting to bust some of the businessmen who are employing the illegals as well as aiding and abetting them in various other ways. The employers and enablers getting busted so far have been small fry however. The very large Hormel Corporation wasn’t charged or even fined over that big raid the Feds did in Colorado last winter.

Newsday reports that “Fourteen travel agency owners or employees were indicted on human smuggling and other charges, accused of selling airline tickets they thought would be used by illegal immigrants….The charges were connected only to the sale of tickets to undercover officers, but authorities said a record analysis showed that six travel agencies sold tickets to an estimated 6,800 illegal immigrants since mid-2005.” So much for the myth of the “poor” but honest immigrant sneaking over the border fence in a desperate bid to make a better life for his family. These illegals were sufficiently well off in Mexico that they could afford airline tickets to come into this country to steal our jobs and benefits. (more…)
