Smoke signals from the battle of Bint Jbeil send a warning to Israel

Is it possible - is it conceivable - that Israel is losing its war in Lebanon?

By Robert Fisk

Israelis Run into Serious Resistance

From this hill village in the south of the country, I am watching the clouds of brown and black smoke rising from its latest disaster in the Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil: up to 13 Israeli soldiers dead, and others surrounded, after a devastating ambush by Hizbollah guerrillas in what was supposed to be a successful Israeli military advance against a “terrorist centre”.

To my left smoke rises too, over the town of Khiam, where a smashed United Nations outpost remains the only memorial to the four UN soldiers - most of them decapitated by an American-made missile on Tuesday - killed by the Israeli air force.

Indian soldiers of the UN army in southern Lebanon, visibly moved by the horror of bringing their Canadian, Fijian, Chinese and Austrian comrades back in at least 20 pieces from the clearly marked UN post next to Khiam prison, left their remains at Marjayoun hospital yesterday.

In past years, I have spent hours with their comrades in this UN position, which is clearly marked in white and blue paint, with the UN’s pale blue flag opposite the Israeli frontier. Their duty was to report on all they saw: the ruthless Hizbollah missile fire out of Khiam and the brutal Israeli response against the civilians of Lebanon.

Is this why they had to die, after being targeted by the Israelis for eight hours, their officers pleading to the Israeli Defence Forces that they cease fire? An American-made Israeli helicopter saw to that. (more…)

In Vino Veritas: Did Mel Gibson Curse the Jews?

Mel Gibson

In view of the Biblically correct contents of the celebrated movie “The Passion” by director and producer Mel Gibson, and the violent reaction against the film by organized Jewry, there has been considerable speculation whether or not Mel Gibson is a closet anti-Semite. Well, an interesting incident has occurred which surprisingly adds fuel to a long simmering fire. An article on the TMZ web site states: “TMZ has learned that actor and director Mel Gibson went on a rampage when he was arrested Friday on suspicion of drunk driving, hurling religious epithets. TMZ has also learned that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department had the initial report doctored to keep the real story under wraps.” The TMZ article goes on to repeat alleged anti-Semitic remarks by Gibson including the observation: “The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.”

Mel Gibson became a major star with a post-Apocalyptic action film “Mad Max.” Shortly after that, Gibson was given roles in the series of “Lethal Weapon” movies and a long list of other successful films. Gibson is a conservative devout Christian and it seems likely the Jewish Hollywood establishment did not feel “comfortable” around him. Several years ago it was revealed that Mel Gibson’s dad did not believe in the Holocaust, which must have caused even more gnashing of kosher teeth over Mel Gibson and his movie career. Among Gibson’s most impressive films are The Passion of the Christ, Braveheart, The Patriot and We Were Soldiers. (more…)

Heat Wave, Power Outages and Immigration

Power Outage

The US just went through a truly miserable heat wave and millions of Americans discovered their local power stations could not keep the electricity on when they needed it most. One news article reports “The death toll from this week’s brutal heat wave in California has reached at least 126, state officials said on Friday, although record high temperatures were finally easing… Especially hard hit over the past week was the state’s Central Valley, a major farming area. In Fresno, temperatures had exceeded 112 degrees F (44.5 C) for five days in a row, the longest such streak since 1898… more than 2 million Californians went without electricity at some point amid record demand for power… Local coroners who had struggled with many bodies earlier in the week saw a calmer situation by Friday. ‘It had been pretty busy at the beginning of the week, up until Wednesday evening,’ said Ralph Ghimenti, who works in the coroner’s office in Stanislaus County in Modesto. ‘We were almost at capacity…’ ”

It is truly embarrassing that a state like California could not keep its power on for all its customers. Clearly America is transforming itself into a Third World nation, where even the most basic features of modern society are breaking down. Few -if any- mainstream media news shows will point a finger at the millions of illegal aliens in California and their role in overloading the power grid. In addition to the Mexican illegals, there are millions of “legal” Third World immigrants who were let into this country by treasonous politicians against the will of the vast majority of White Americans. If these millions of Third World invaders were not here, there would be no problem keeping the power on. (more…)

Endless Entanglements

George Washington Warned Against Foreign Entanglements

Intervention begets intervention. No intervention is ever complete; new countries must be constantly conquered or transformed to finish the job. Having intervened, one must continue to intervene to achieve one’s original objectives. There are always unintended consequences to overcome. Running an empire, acting as the global policeman, and spreading liberty, truth, justice, and happiness around the world are not tasks for the faint-hearted – or republic-minded.

The Mideast is the prime example. The U.S. invaded Iraq for all sorts of reasons, none of which hold up under scrutiny. But never mind. We now are there and must finish the job. We can’t cut and run. American credibility would be hurt, Iraq would degenerate into chaos – well, worse chaos. Terrorists – well, more terrorists – might set up operation. And the last great democratic hope for the region, and perhaps mankind, would disappear. (more…)

“Lay off the Witchcraft” Says Mugabe

Political Consultant in Africa

Well, we haven’t visited that towering monument to Third World self-rule, Zimbabwe recently so let’s see what our old friend and Marxist dictator-for-life Robert Mugabe is up to. Last we heard, Comrade Bob was in the process of starving his entire nation to death. Bread, flour, corn, cooking oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, spare parts and other necessities of life were almost impossible to obtain. Comrade Bob has finally driven the last White people who were producing anything of value out of the country. If a White nation had done the same sort of “ethnic cleansing” to -say- Gypsies or Muslims, the US would be screaming about the situation if not bombing the offending regime.

Zimbabwe’s foreign exchange is non-existent. The Zimbabwe dollar was worth less than its weight in toilet paper thanks to Zimbabwe’s unique combination of Marxist lunacy and an increasingly senile and incompetent dictator Mugabe. Oh, and Comrade Bob just drove an estimated two million poor black people out of the cities of Harare and Bulawayo and into the empty wasteland of the Zimbabwe bush, where even the wildlife has been exterminated by the people who are so desperate to find something to eat. Hegemonic Tyrant Courts Doom

Finding itself in Republican sights and with no Democratic power center to offer protection, National Public Radio is turning into an upscale version of Fox “News.” Nevertheless, information still gets out if the listener is sufficiently attentive.

On July 5, NPR’s All Things Considered interviewed two warmongers for their views on the North Korean missile test. One was Ashton Carter, a Clinton administration assistant secretary of defense, now at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. The other was Ambassador Christopher Hill, an assistant secretary of state in the Bush regime. (more…)

US Complicit in Destruction of Lebanon

by Paul Craig Roberts

There never was any doubt of the Bush regime’s complicity in Israel’s naked aggression against the Lebanese civilian population. Bush has protected Israel from world condemnation. Bush has blocked those who attempted to bring a stop to Israel’s bombing of residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure, and now Bush rushes more bombs for Israel to drop on Lebanon.

On July 22, the New York Times revealed the full extent of the Bush regime’s participation in the heinous war crimes being inflicted on the Lebanese people:

“The Bush administration is rushing a delivery of precision-guided bombs to Israel, which requested the expedited shipment last week after beginning its air campaign. … The decision to quickly ship the weapons to Israel was made with relatively little debate within the Bush administration, the officials said.”

Obviously, Bush and his government do not think Israel has yet murdered enough Lebanese. Bush denounces Syria and Iran for allegedly arming Hezbollah, while he rushes more deadly weapons to Israel. (more…)

Against House Resolution 921

by Rep. Ron Paul

I rise in opposition to this resolution, which I sincerely believe will do more harm than good. I do agree with the resolution’s condemnation of violence. But I am convinced that when we get involved in foreign conflicts and send strong messages, such as this resolution will, it ends up expanding the war rather than diminishing the conflict, and that ultimately comes back to haunt us.

Mr. Speaker, I follow a policy in foreign affairs called non-interventionism. I do not believe we are making the United States more secure when we involve ourselves in conflicts overseas. The Constitution really doesn’t authorize us to be the policemen of the world, much less to favor one side over another in foreign conflicts. It is very clear, reading this resolution objectively, that all the terrorists are on one side and all the victims and the innocents are on the other side. I find this unfair, particularly considering the significantly higher number of civilian casualties among Lebanese civilians. I would rather advocate neutrality rather than pick sides, which is what this resolution does. (more…)

The Shame of Being an American

by Paul Craig Roberts

Gentle reader, do you know that Israel is engaged in ethnic cleansing in southern Lebanon? Israel has ordered all the villagers to clear out. Israel then destroys their homes and murders the fleeing villagers. That way there is no one to come back and nothing to which to return, making it easier for Israel to grab the territory, just as Israel has been stealing Palestine from the Palestinians.

Do you know that one-third of the Lebanese civilians murdered by Israel’s attacks on civilian residential districts are children? That is the report from Jan Egeland, the emergency relief coordinator for the UN. He says it is impossible for help to reach the wounded and those buried in rubble, because Israeli air strikes have blown up all the bridges and roads. Considering how often (almost always) Israel misses Hezbollah targets and hits civilian ones, one might think that Israeli fire is being guided by US satellites and US military GPS. Don’t be surprised at US complicity. Why would the puppet be any less evil than the puppet master?

Of course, you don’t know these things, because the US print and TV media do not report them. (more…)

Bush Bungling into World War 3

White House Moron

Israel has already made incursions across the Lebanese border and a full scale invasion appears imminent. Targets throughout Lebanon have already been bombed, including the airport before citizens from the US and Europe could be evacuated. A recent news article reports that Israel was planning for a large scale invasion.

It looks like Israel will invade Lebanon, for the umpteenth time since the bandit state was created in 1948. Once more, Jewish psychopaths armed to the teeth by the United States and your tax dollars will go berserk, slaughtering their neighbors like cattle, burning and looting and bombing and assassinating right, left and center. Israel has already crossed the border at least once. But this time they’re meeting some resistance. During one of their early forays, the Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas managed to knock out an Israeli Abrams tank. This came only a few weeks after militants in Gaza, attacked and knocked out an Israeli tank, capturing its gunner, who became a world famous hostage (while most media left out the part about the lost Israeli tank).
