Broke Bank Mounting
by James Buchanan

It seems incredible that anyone would try to market another movie featuring a “love story” between two Gay men only a year after one of the greatest box office bombs of all time, Alexander. Much of the advertising for Alexander featured the dramatic ancient battles that were recreated. More than a few people were sucked into that movie, not knowing that it was built around a Gay love story between Alexander and his best friend (which many historians consider complete nonsense). Once word of mouth spread about “Alexander the Fabulous,” it was box office death. Assuming half the box office total went to the movie (and the other half to the theaters), the movie Alexander lost over 100 million dollars. Brokeback Mountain shows little sign of becoming anything other than a Gay cult movie with a paltry box office total despite a mountain of praise heaped on it by the hopelessly pro-Gay Hollywood elite.

After the immense failure of Alexander, you would think Hollywood had learned its lesson, but no. Apparently there are some die-hard homophiles who won’t let public opinion stand in their way. Producer Ang Lee (originally from Taiwan) has just given us all Brokeback Mountain whether we want it or not. (more…)
